He found himself back on the island he had left a little over a week before. The terrain had not changed. Bleak and overcast, the valley he arrived in was rain-soaked and frigid. As far as his eye could see, the Sidhe army spread out across the landscape. Prepared for battle, dressed in armor, they stood at attention facing the sea. They would remain in that alert position until their king or general issued orders.

Elron looked around for Asher, his king. In the distance, he saw a large tent situated on the hill rising above the valley. That was where he needed to go.

Update on Sudden Shock the Elleanor Stone Collection and other stories to come. #amwriting #UrbanFantasy

The first draft of Sudden Shock should be completed early next week. I am so excited about how it has progressed. Editing it will have to wait two weeks as I take time off to visit Orlando, Florida. There we are planning to take in the sights, the parks (both Disney and Universal) and basically decompress from months of writing. When I return, I will be fresh to put the finishing touches to Elleanor’s story.  I’m looking at getting it to my editor somewhere around the end of April, and to have it released once she finishes putting her magic touch to it. Probably near July 2018.

I have had comments on The Crystal Series from fans, wanting to know more about Rina and Tory, and what happened to them. It has given me the idea of giving them their own book. So look forward to that. At the same time, Liam’s story of how he met the love of his life, how they found themselves torn apart, needs also to be delved into. I look forward to telling their story as well.

At the same time, the second book of the Elleanor Stone Collection is taking shape.  What case will she be working at this time, how will Brant figure into it, will they ever put the past to rest. Come back to find out more!.

“Thalia, the floor is yours.” Rydia stated.

Mom took a moment before rising to her feet. She steeled herself for what lay ahead. I could feel Rider tense beside her. Mom schooled her face into neutrality, showing none of the conflict inside her. Once on her feet, she looked everywhere but at her father. I resented his attitude. What had my mother done to deserve his scorn?

“Thank you, Rydia. I will not speak for long. Our request is a simple one. You all are aware of what Elsam has begun. If we do not join with the Sidhe in this battle, all we hold dear will be lost. Elsam has the Daimon and shadows working with him. Releasing them, unhindered, on earth will be devastating to all of us. I have come here to request that the council agree to have witches and warlocks join in the fight. Only together can we overcome the death and destruction that is sure to come.” Thalia sat once she had finished speaking.

“Watch!” His mother ordered him when he turned away.

Liam had no choice but to return his gaze to the scene before him. Even that glimpse was worth the anguish he felt. She was beyond beautiful to him. He knew each contour of her body. From the shapely legs, all the way up to the willowy arms that had held him. His eyes narrowed at what else he saw. Where is she?

The bubbling waters of the river she knelt beside were unknown to him. They had never been there together. He could name every place he had visited with her. The red sediment- covered riverbed, with the molten lava covered mountains in the distance was unfamiliar. The trees surrounding the area were lifeless. Contorted, blackened trunks and twisted bare branches were rooted in a scorched soil. The fast moving waters of the river reflected all the death around her. Why is she smiling?

Liam raced to the pier too late to haul himself aboard. He watched helplessly as the distance grew. Trying to transport aboard it was impossible. The boat was protected. How could we have screwed up so badly? Alexa was gone. They had no idea where he was taking her or what he would do to her.

Rider reached Liam just before Elron. Rider was cursing the fates for his daughter’s predicament. Thalia was standing where she had been, watching with terror in her eyes as her daughter was taken from her. Liam added his own curses to Rider’s.

Liam found Alexa outside, in the exact spot she had been for the last couple of days. Staring down at the beach, as if his brother would miraculously appear, she had been keeping her emotions bottled up. He thought about leaving her alone, but somehow his legs moved of their own accord towards her. When he reached her, she turned and buried her face in his chest.

Her sobs tore at his heart. Wrapping her gently in his arms, he felt each heave as it left her body. Her tears were not for herself, but for what everyone else had been through. She did not, or could not, see her strength. Liam let her cry, knowing that she needed to let it out.

Walking down to the beach, the full moon lit my way. I was standing where Aidan usually stood, facing the lake, alone in the twilight. Blocking out all the sounds around me, I focused on Aidan’s essence, feeling his loss of fight. Guilt of what I had done to him ate away at me. I had to find him, had to make things right between us. Our link was still there, but was growing weaker. It was as if he were slowly cutting his ties with me.

“You will have to leave without them knowing.” Elron’s voice cut into my thoughts.

He had stepped next to me, soundlessly, his appearance surprising me. I must have been too preoccupied to notice his arrival. I knew he was right. The others would not let me go alone. I would have to leave without them knowing.

Without fanfare, he simply vanished before my eyes. The red aura that had surrounded him faded, the people around me started to move. The image that he planted in my head pushed to the forefront of my mind. How was I to maneuver it so that I was free to go rescue Aidan?

Preparing for the arguments I would be facing, I held little hope of convincing them. There had to be another way. Jostled by a tourist who walked into me, the time came for me to leave the temple. Excusing himself, the tourist returned to admiring the dome above him. I stilled my mind, finding the signatures of those who had come with me. Closing my eyes, I pictured everyone back at our estate.
