Trace the steps of France’s military history at the Musée de ‘Armée (Army Museum). The museum is vast and took us hours to get through. The old armour and weapon collections span from the 13th century to modern times.

 

 

 

 

The Dôme des Invalides, inspired by St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, was designed to house the remains of Napoleon Bonaparte. It took twenty years to complete, 1841-1861.

Napoleon’s body, buried on Saint Helena, was unearthed and transported to Paris, where he was laid to rest within a tomb of red quartzite which rests on a green granite base.
